$525.00

French Colony: Togo, situated on the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa between Ghana and Dahomey. Anglo-French forces occupied Togoland in 1914, subsequently becoming a League of Nations mandate and a U.N. trusteeship divided, for administrative purposes, between Great Britain and France.

The British portion voted in 1957 for incorporation with Ghana. The French portion became the independent Republic of Togo on April 27, 1960.
